Honestly, it boils down to "Do I run this mod to get access to clan tech, only to have it break with the next patch, or do I bide my time and wait for the DLC?" My time has value, and tweaking mods after every patch is a terrible waste of my time.In 3050, the true heirs of the lost Star League thunder forth from the depths of the far Periphery and carve deep into the quarreling Successor States. Each new DLC breaks way more mods than if the studio actually did care about the modding community. But unlike other studios that actually support modders, this studio seems to be only going through the motions. And yeah, I know you can get that with several mods, and kudos to the modders for bringing it in. I just hope we get to see the Clan invasion. Ditto MW4, though the Solaris VII sideline quest was absolutely a blast, and hiring a real sports caster to do the arena commentary audio was brilliant.Įven though MW5 does have a thin strategy layer, it is probably just a distraction for the target demographic they are trying to appeal to, which to me seems to be 12 year olds with ADD. There is very little strategy involved in any of the shooters MW3 was the first of the shooters, and it had no strategy at all. 1 Contents 1 History 2 List of clans 2.1 Clan Blood Spirit 2.2 Clan Burrock 2.3 Clan Cloud Cobra 2.4 Clan Coyote 2. In MW5, a couple of sixpacks to the rear arc of any mech is all it takes for a kill. In the BattleTech universe, Clans are fictional peoples. Wrecking mechs is fun, and doing it in the first person is really fun, but if that is all there is, it gets boring fast. The Clan Command Star includes the Dire Wolf, Summonder, Stormcrow, Mist Lynx, and Shadow Cat -no assembly required- along with five MechWarrior pilot cards. With the exception of HBS's Battletech, which is the sole computer version that retains the old-school turn-based tactics and deep strategy layer, the franchise seems to be going in the wrong direction. Mech Assault was a fun shooter, but Halo cleaned its clock.

I started with the turn-based tactics table top game decades ago, but I've played every PC version that has been released, plus the ill-fated Mech Assault from the very first XBox back at the turn of the century.
